How will your hospital and medical evacuation expenses be covered
Cover commences from the time you leave your normal place of residence or business for a maximum period of 30 days (If you apply for additional cover, this period can be extended to 90 days in total), or until you return to South Africa. You are entitled to cover of up to R2 million per incident, per person.
Should you require emergency hospitalisation while travelling overseas, ER24 International Assistance should be contacted on +27 10 205 3200. They will confirm your membership and case manage your medical emergency.
In addition to this ER24 will provide assistance for medical emergencies, associated problems and where medically indicated, arrange for your repatriation home.
How will your day-to-day out patient expenses be covered
Should you require emergency medical treatment without hospitalisation within the 30-day period, you will need to settle the account with the health care provider upfront. An excess (deductible) of R 1000 is applicable for out-patient treatment.
Claims process
On your return, please ensure that you submit the following details to Resolution Health, to arrange for the reimbursement of your emergency non-hospital claims promptly and accurately:
- If the insured is in an accident or needs to be admitted to hospital for an illness, he/she should contact ER24 and notify them by calling +27 10205 3200
- ER24 will then verify the cover and contact Europ Assistance. Europ Assistance are vernacular and are able to communicate in 15 international languages. (Communication will not be a barrier.)
- Europe Assistance appoints a case manager who contacts the client, the hospital, doctors and confirms the currency of the claim.
- The account is then settled by Europe Assistance.
- The insured will not incur any expenses if the claim falls within the policy.
The International Travel Cover benefit only covers emergency claims that your Plan Option would normally cover
The medical condition for which you receive medical treatment while travelling overseas must be a covered benefit of your Plan Option. Please read your member's handbook or visit our website at www.resomed.co.za to see what your Plan Option covers. In addition to the general scheme exclusions, there are specific exclusions that apply to the International Travel Benefit.
